    The Culture of Permaculture

We cannot have permaculture without a strong connected culture behind it.
One part of our vision is to create an intentional community living sustainably on the land, hosting waves of artists, musicians, poets, filmmakers, and philosphers to work on individual creative projects while working on the land together, and producing events on-site and in local towns that invite the extended community to see what is being produced on the land. The more people we can engage into the project the more supported everyone will feel.

After running an organic farm in Ohio for three years, working every day on the land, struggling to survive and preserve food - I came to realize that we cannot have permaculture without a strong culture of multi-generational creative and inspired individuals. We create culture through art, music, poetry, storytelling and community circles. Artists create sacred beautiful temple spaces. Music brings people together and actives them into a unified heart space. Poetry and Storytelling documents our culture allowing it to be passed down through the generations. And community circles create a strong interpersonal network to hold everyone up. Circle center and CAST have been working for years to facilitate these kind of community circles. Artsfest of San Francisco really has its finger on the pulse of the awakening creative culture of the bay area. RDI is an incredible resource for physical permaculture design. We intend to unite all of these aspects of life into one grounded project on a piece of land in Marin county, CA, When we create systems that stimulate cultural growth, we inspire more people to get involved. And in the end, the more people that are involved the stonger that we are. As in ecosystems, the most diverse ecosystem will always thrive through all environmental constraints.
